Book Review

A new EArth

By: Eckhart Tolle

September 1, 2022

Is This Book Right for me?

Summary: “A New Earth” by Eckhart Tolle is a transformative book that guides readers on a journey to awaken to their true purpose and potential. Through powerful insights and practical exercises, the author helps readers to transcend the limitations of their ego-based mind and tap into a deeper state of consciousness. Tolle encourages readers to let go of their attachment to the past and future and instead, to live in the present moment. He teaches that true happiness and fulfillment can only be found by living in the now, and that this is the key to personal and collective evolution. This book is a call to action for readers to take responsibility for their thoughts and actions, and to create a new and enlightened world for themselves and future generations. It’s a fresh perspective on the way we live our life and how we can elevate ourselves and the world around us.

I personally would recommend reading “The Power of Now” from Eckhart Tolle first before starting this book. A review of the “The Power of Now” can be found here.

The book can be found here: Link

Recommendation: Must read – I read this book some time after the Power of Now and liked it even more (maybe because I was already used to Tolle´s writing style and knew what would expect me). It is written in the same unconventional style but offers even more life changing insights and has even more depths than its predecessor.

 4.8/5

Level: Special – same as for “The Power of Now”: While this book does not require any background information it uses a lot of metaphorical and (at least for our modern, westernized world) unusual language. The requirement to get something out of this book is certainly to accept the way of “phrasing” the author applies and to not think too much about the meaning of certain words being used (e.g. “being”).

Special
Storyline (not 1:1 according to chapters in the book)

The book is divided into 10 chapters, each one building on the previous one to take the reader deeper into their understanding of themselves and the world around them.:

  • Chapter 1: “The Flowering of Human Consciousness” – This chapter sets the stage for the journey ahead, introducing the concept of the “ego” and how it shapes our perception of reality. Tolle explains how the ego-based mind creates a sense of separation and disconnection, and how this state of mind is the root of all human suffering.
  • Chapter 2: “The Pain-Body” – In this chapter, Tolle delves deeper into the human psyche, exploring the concept of the “pain-body” – the emotional energy that is stored within us as a result of past traumas and negative experiences. He explains how this pain-body can manifest in our lives, and how it can be released through mindfulness and self-awareness.
  • Chapter 3: “The Ego in Disguise” – Tolle continues his exploration of the ego in this chapter, showing how it can take on many different forms and disguises. He explains how the ego can manifest as feelings of superiority, inferiority, or even as a sense of spiritual enlightenment.
  • Chapter 4: “The State of Presence” – This chapter is all about the power of the present moment, and how living in the now can lead to true happiness and fulfillment. Tolle explains how the ego-based mind is constantly pulling us into the past or future, and how this state of mind is the root of all human suffering.
  • Chapter 5: “The Power of Now” – In this chapter, Tolle teaches how to stay present in the moment, and how to access a deeper state of consciousness. He explains how this state of being is the key to personal and collective evolution, and how it can lead to a new and enlightened world.
  • Chapter 6: “The Inner Body” – Tolle continues his exploration of mindfulness and self-awareness in this chapter, introducing the concept of the “inner body” and how it can be used as a tool for spiritual growth. He explains how the inner body can be accessed through practices such as meditation, and how it can be used to connect with the present moment.
  • Chapter 7: “The Discovery of Inner Space” – Tolle explores the concept of inner space in this chapter, showing how it can be used as a tool for self-discovery and personal growth. He explains how inner space can be accessed through practices such as meditation and how it can be used to connect with the present moment.
  • Chapter 8: “The Unconscious Collective” – Tolle delves into the collective unconscious in this chapter, explaining how our thoughts and actions are interconnected and how they shape the world around us. He explains how the collective unconscious is the root of all human suffering, and how it can be transformed through mindfulness and self-awareness.
  • Chapter 9: “The Discovery of Your Life’s Purpose” – Tolle teaches how to find your purpose in life in this chapter, explaining how it can be discovered through mindfulness and self-awareness. He explains how this state of being is the key to personal and collective evolution, and how it can lead to a new and enlightened world.
  • Chapter 10: “The End of Suffering” – The final chapter of the book, Tolle sums up the journey and the lessons learned, encouraging readers to take responsibility for their thoughts and actions, and to create a new and enlightened world for themselves and future generations. He explains how true happiness and fulfillment can
